Salaam and welcome!
If you’ve been here long enough, you’ll know Dubai’s rhythm shifts in the summer.
The outdoors can wait. This season is for early morning jogs and late-night cafeteria runs with the windows down (a bit). That too is part of Dubai’s culture. Adapting to the heat, staying active, and still finding joy when the mercury hits 45°C.
Here’s what we’ve got for you this week:
🍽️ Eat This
Kishmish, Al Wasl Street
An Afghan gem tucked away from the usual food hype. This place boasts a serene atmosphere in a bougie part of town.
Their Kabuli Pulao is fragrant, rich with raisins and carrots, and their kebabs come off the grill with just the right char. An elegant nod to Afghan hospitality.
☕️ Drink This
Encounter, Mall of the Emirates
Malls have many coffee shops, and most of them miss the mark.
Encounter’s MOE branch is one of the few exceptions. They bring specialty coffee into the mall scene, perfect for a post-shop caffeine hit or a quiet catch-up away from the crowds. Their sandwiches slap, too.
🙂 Chill here
Children’s City, Creek Park
A cool escape for the kids. They’ll learn something, stretch their legs, and it’s only 20AED to enter. They have science exhibits, a space gallery, and a planetarium, making it a summer lifesaver.
Bonus: Creek Park itself stays relatively pleasant in the evenings thanks to the nearby water.
