Salaam and welcome!

This is my fifth Dubai Summer, and while July was weirdly pleasant, August has been business as usual.

The good news? The end of Summer is in sight. Kind of.

The better news? I know a coffee spot that you can enjoy without even leaving your air-conditioned car. And no, it’s not on Jumeirah Beach Road.

Plus, I’ve got an authentic Palestinian place for you to try, and a hangout spot that not many people visit, even in the summer.

Let’s dive in!

🍽️ Eat This

Mama'esh, Green Community

My Palestinian friend introduced me to this joint years ago, and he told me it’s the real deal. Tucked away in Green Community, Mama'esh offers authentic Palestinian cuisine. Try their freshly baked manakish and organic flour fatayers.

Their chicken musakhan, hummus, salads, and soups are all excellent, too. All their branches are family-friendly, affordable, and truly flavorful.

☕️ Drink This

Ghaya Coffee, Nad al Sheba

Don’t want to spend even a moment in the heat this weekend? I’ve got you. Drive down to Ghaya, which is nestled in the affluent Nad al Sheba area. It’s a drive-thru that takes the art of coffee seriously.

🙂 Chill here

MBR Library

Indoors doesn’t mean in malls. MBR library is a brilliant piece of architecture and interior design. But more importantly, it’s a beautifully calming library and co-working space. The library also contains a museum of old Islamic manuscripts. Totally free, but kids under 5 are not allowed entry.

🧠 Dubai Cheat Code

Want cheap homeware, clothing, and toys? Head to Al Fan Emirates in Al Quoz. Locals know about this spot, tourists do not. Let’s keep it that way, kapeesh?

See you next Friday!
