Salaam and welcome!
I posted this picture to my Instagram story yesterday, and the crowd went insane for it (6 people liked it).

Over the years, Ijaza and I have come to an understanding. From last-minute biryani orders to accidentally scalding myself in their car park with red-hot Karak chai, we’ve had our ups and downs.
Below, I share my 5 go-tos, so you can go. Too.
Here are your Sunday plans (sorry).
🍽 Eat This
Ijaza Express Cafeteria, Emirates Road
Listen, Dubai’s cafeterias are a life hack in and of themselves. Spend pennies, get joy.
Next time you drive up to their door and beep your horn, order this:
Chicken Biryani (usually sold out by 5pm)
Chicken Shawarma
Omelet parotta (breakfast, sorted)
Chicken Zinker parotta
Hassan Mattar
Habbath al Hamra (Custard-like dessert)
Sahlab (Orchid-root-based dessert. Trust me.)
And of course, the Karak chai goes without saying. I think they might just serve the city’s best chai.
☕ Drink This
Nightjar, Al Serkal Avenue/Muhaisinah
Nightjar is not new on the scene. They’ve BEEN serving quality coffee for years now.
The atmosphere is on the busier side, especially on Al Serkal Avenue. But they’re yet to disappoint. For some, Nightjar serves the best cup in Dubai.

Ajman Mangroves
Need a dose of nature? Al Zorah Nature Reserve is around an hour from Dubai. Flamingos, trees, a natural creek, and a sea breeze. There are a few restaurants and coffee shops dotted around, so this makes for a fairly low-effort adventure, seeing as you don’t have to venture into the desert.

❤️ Take the Kids Here
Jebel Ali Public Beach
There are no facilities at this beach, so come prepared. But in exchange, you get a quieter atmosphere away from tourists (for the most part).
You can also check in on the development of Palm Jebel Ali while you listen to the waves.
