Salaam and welcome!
I’m going to let you in on a little secret.
The best Biryani in Dubai? It’s from Ijaza Cafeterias. Order for lunch, because they’re almost always sold out by dinner time. They never miss.
And you know what? Their karak tea is the best, too. Yeah, I said it.
Oh, and don’t forget about our Dubai Like a Local guide. You get lifetime access to a hand-selected list of Dubai’s best 150+ food, coffee, and hangout spots for just 47AED. We’ll let you know whenever we update the guide, so you always know what your weekends look like.
Aaaaaanyway, here are your weekend plans.
🍽 Eat This
KUMO, Al Wasl Road
KUMO is one of those places that makes you feel cosy and bougie at the same time. The decor is great, and they serve us Japanese-style breakfasts, sandwiches, and desserts that look almost too good to eat.
We’re talking Egg Sandos, Honey Toast, fluffy pancakes, and yes, Matcha.
☕ Drink This
Bando Coffee, Wafi City
Want to try Korea’s Jeju coffee culture? It’s all about taking things slow (according to ChatGPT, anyway).
You get all the staples here, along with some notable innovations. Black Sesame Lattes, Mint Mochas, and some signature blends named after the four seasons.

Al Dhaid Fort, Al Dhaid
An hour from Downtown, you can learn about the UAE’s past at a historic fort. It’s free entry, and you can finally tell your family back home that the Emiratis didn’t just suddenly appear in the 1970s.
There are plenty of independent coffee shops around the fort, as well as a palm tree oasis. A great place to learn and bask in the winter sun.

❤️ Take the Kids Here
Green Escape Park, Arjan
Also known as Dubai Science Park, this spacious public park has everything you need for a day out. Playgrounds, running tracks, green spaces, restrooms, prayer rooms, and four places to eat on-site, including an excellent Acai joint called Drizz. Or, just bring a picnic.
Not every day 75AED soft plays, you know?

If you liked my Viva egg hack from last week, you’re going to love this.
Gala has quietly opened several stores across the city, and their prices are excellent. Good quality fruit, too. Viva has competition.
That’s all folks! Catch you next Friday.
