Salaam and welcome!
One of the best parts about living in Dubai is what’s right next to Dubai. The Hajar mountains and the calm beaches on the other side of them are beautiful, and I’m looking forward to exploring them more as the weather cools.
Be ready for road trip recommendations in the not-too-distant future!
Oh, we’re also live on Instagram. We’ll be dropping food/coffee/hangout recommendations there very soon, so follow us.
Here are your weekend plans:
🍽 Eat This
Wadi Doan Restaurant, Al Rigga
Step into old Dubai with Yemeni classics, such as slow-cooked mandi and delicious fish stews. The traditional floor seating and warm hospitality make it feel like you’ve left the city and landed in Hadramout. Affordable, hearty, and one of those places locals quietly keep in rotation.

☕ Drink This
The Espresso Lab, Dubai Design District
This one is for the purists. The Espresso Lab is renowned for its meticulous attention to detail and exceptional beans.
They have multiple branches, but Dubai Design District is worth visiting as Winter rolls in.

🙂 Chill Here
Food Street, Al Barsha South
I love a good food truck, which is why I love Food Street. It’s tucked away in Al Barsha South, right next to a quiet park and supermarket.
You’ll find Bubble tea from Mihbash, Karak from Koukh al Shay, Steak at PEtit Comptoir, specialty coffee and Shagf and Maze. Head down here in the late afternoon and take in some fresh air at the park next door, too.

❤️ Take the Kids Here
Jumeirah Beach Library + Night Swimming
This spot is perfect 1 hour before sunset. There’s a cafe nearby, but I suggest bringing a picnic. Let the kids play and choose a book while the sun sets.
In the same location, you’ll also find a fishing spot and an accessible viewing deck to watch the sun sink into the sea. Then, just a 2-minute walk away, you’ll find Dubai’s night swimming beach, where you and the kids can take a dip safely under the bright lights.
Tip: Don’t even attempt parking here on the weekend. Use Sunset Mall’s parking facilities instead.

🧠 Dubai Cheat Code
If you need government paperwork done (bill payments, license renewals, fines, utilities), skip long queues at service centers. Download the DubaiNow app. It pulls everything into one dashboard. You can pay DEWA, Salik, Nol, Etisalat, and even your car registration in minutes without stepping foot in an office.
See you next Friday!
