Salaam and welcome!

I recently flew back to Dubai from London, and I’m sick.

What do I like to consume when I’m sick? Dubai-style custard, of course. It soothes my brain, and today, I’m sharing it with you.

If you’re feeling too hot and bothered for custard, then I’ve also got a great, fairly secluded spot if you want to sit down with a beautifully cold-brewed Ethiopian coffee.

Let’s dive in!

🍽️ Eat This

Ijaza Express, Emirates Road

You’ve probably seen branches of Ijaza cafeteria dotted around Dubai. They are well-loved for good reason. My favourite is their Emirates Road branch, found nestled within the Villanova community when driving towards Abu Dhabi.

But here’s the thing, they have a “normal” cafeteria menu, with a few crowd-pleasing extras. One of those extras? Habbath al Hamra, which translates into red seeds. It’s essentially custard with Asario Seeds added in, giving good old custard a bit of a health boost. Try it and thank me later.

☕️ Drink This

Two Neighbours, Muhaisinah

Want to cool down? Two Neighbours blew me away with their cold brew coffee. Ask for the Ethiopian beans. They serve it with a massive block of ice that somehow refuses to melt.

It’s the best cold brew coffee I’ve ever had, hands down.

🙂 Chill here

Dubai Dolphinarium, Creek Park

Fully indoors and air-conditioned, the Dolphinarium is a rare Dubai spot where you can watch dolphins and seals perform acrobatics, excellent for kids, but also pretty cool for adults.

If you want to extend your visit, the venue is situated within Creek Park, where you can stroll or have an after-sunset picnic, although you may need to contend with the humidity.

🧠 Dubai Cheat Code

The Dubai Mall is always a good shout in the Summer heat, which is why parking is such a nightmare there. Next time, go to Zabeel Parking. It’s a newer addition to the mall that features a Lulus Hypermarket, restaurants, a gym, and an air-conditioned bridge connecting you to the main mall.

See you next Friday!
