Salaam and welcome!
After this morning’s school run, I had a craving for a karak chai and an omelet parotta. The breakfast of kings.
When I pulled up to Tea Trend in Nad al Sheba, I realised I wasn’t the only one with the craving. Six other cars, including a police car, were already waiting for their order.
The sun had just risen, the birds were chirping, and the karaks were pouring. Dubai, baby.
Here are your weekend plans:
🍽 Eat This
J Bakery
One thing Dubai needs more of? Accessible bakeries. 35dh pistachio-filled croissants are a nice treat, but I want to see more sourdough bakers serving up the good stuff BY THE LOAF. Jay Bakery is doing that.
Their coffee isn’t too shabby either.

☕ Drink This
La Gente Roastery, Al Barsha South
I came across La Gente by accident, but I’m telling you about it on purpose. Not every coffee roaster knows the game as well as La Gente does. Their Colombian beans are a must-try.

🙂 Chill Here
Half Desert Road
Winter is coming, so this is a nice way to reconnect with the desert gently.
Those pictures you see with the sand covering half the road? Yeah, this is the spot. Drive up here before sunset, and you’ll likely run into a herd of camels and multiple families setting up their BBQs and picnics. B

❤️ Take the Kids Here
Jumeirah Island Pavillion
Okay it’s getting cooler but it’s still not THAT cool. The solution? Jumeirah Island Pavilion. Free parking, beautiful views of the water, a waterfall, and a few cafes to grab a cold drink from. They also have two small parks with playgrounds to tire the kids out.
